IRVINE : Motorist Reports Freeway Shooting
Authorities were investigating a reported freeway shooting Sunday afternoon in which a motorist fired one shot from a small-caliber handgun at another motorist, but no one was injured.
The shooting occurred about 4 p.m. on the northbound San Diego Freeway near the junction with Laguna Freeway, an Irvine police spokesman said. The suspect continued northbound on the freeway but the victim pulled over and used an emergency freeway telephone to call police.
The California Highway Patrol took over the investigation, an Irvine Police spokesman said. A CHP spokesman said there had been no arrest. Although the victim, who was not identified by police, said he saw a small-caliber black handgun, police had no description of the suspect’s car.
