Boston Celtic forward Marcus Webb said police in a Boston suburb stopped him without probable cause while he was driving last Friday and tore up his license, but police said they have no record of the alleged incident. Webb, 22, reportedly told the Celtics that he had been stopped by police in Newton or Brookline. He said he showed officers an Alabama interim driver’s license and said his permanent license arrived in the mail that afternoon.

However, Alabama authorities said Webb’s permanent license was revoked in 1991 because he was driving with a suspended license, and there was no evidence that he had a temporary license or was sent a permanent one, the Boston Globe reported. Webb was released when police determined that he plays for the Celtics. No charges were filed.
