The Bible and Gay Rights
What Ms. Mann considers “sin” (homosexuality) is now considered by many biblical scholars to relate to prostitution and idolatry in the context of pagan worship, not to homosexuality as we know it in contemporary culture. Many recent translations of the Bible exclude the word homosexuality altogether.
Ms. Mann states that we should “seek healing for homosexuality.” Is she aware that the majority of “change ministries” sponsored by mainline churches that are designed to “cure” homosexuals are under fire today? No claims of cures can be substantiated by any of these groups for any lengthy period of time.
In light of recent findings by the scientific community, it is as possible to change from gay to straight as it is to change from black to white or brown-eyed to blue.
