OXNARD : School Board Raises Developer Fees
The board of the Oxnard Union High School District voted unanimously Wednesday to raise developer fees to help pay for school construction projects.
A new state law that took effect Jan. 1 gives school districts the authority to raise residential developer fees from $1.65 to $2.65 per square foot.
Last week, the Oxnard Elementary School District, which shares boundaries and developer fees with the high school district, approved its own fee hike. The elementary district, which receives 55% of the money collected because it is slightly larger, raised its share of fees from 91 cents to $1.46 effective in March.
The Oxnard High School district will receive the other 45 cents.
All the money now collected by the high school district goes directly to the state, which is financing the construction of a new Oxnard High School, Brown said.
