Ugly Truth Shows Through Sugar Coating
If sugar-coated words could cause tooth decay, T. Jefferson Parker’s syrupy-sweet “Once More in Dogged Pursuit of a Secret Love” (Nov. 19) would give us all cavities.
Beneath the flowery drivel about the scenery, the “thrill” of spotting birds and the camaraderie between men and dogs lies the ugly truth. He and his buddies went traipsing about in the fields to blast defenseless birds to bloody pieces.
