An Oakland woman’s quilts, scheduled for display at President-elect Bill Clinton’s inauguration, were stolen just hours before she was to leave for Washington. Police said Arbie Williams and her daughter, Juanita Parker, were loading their car Friday morning when the man stole the car containing the quilts and the women’s luggage. Williams, 76, who has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts for her quilts, had made two queen-size quilts for the inauguration. She will display another quilt at the inaugural arts festival.
