Fire Damages Simi Valley House

Share

Fire officials on Sunday night were investigating a blaze that caused about $100,000 in damage to a house at 2321 Ralston Ave. in Simi Valley.

No one was in the one-story tract home during the fire, which was reported about 7:45 p.m., but a firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze, a Ventura County Fire Department spokeswoman said.

She said the house, which was valued at about $120,000, had been nearly vacant for about two months, with only a few furnishings inside. Those contents, valued at about $5,000, were destroyed.

Residents across a wash on Fig Street notified the Fire Department of the blaze, and firefighters arrived two minutes later to find the house fully engulfed in flames, the spokeswoman said. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire had not been determined Sunday night.
