Share

Saddleback Valley Unified School District officials will be seeking public opinion about proposed changes in middle-school attendance boundary lines during two upcoming public hearings.

The first hearing, about proposed boundary lines for the new Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate School, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the multipurpose room of Trabuco Mesa Elementary School, 21301 Avenida de las Flores, in Rancho Santa Margarita.

A second public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday about potential changes to boundary lines for Serrano, Los Alisos and La Paz Intermediate schools. This hearing will be in the multipurpose room at Los Alisos Intermediate School, 25171 Moor Ave., in Mission Viejo.

Under one district proposal, some incoming seventh- and continuing eighth-grade students may be transferred from Serrano to Los Alisos, which has been undergoing declines in enrollment.

The area being considered for transfer into Los Alisos attendance boundaries is along El Toro Road between Trabuco Road and Santa Margarita Parkway.

In another proposed change, Los Alisos students who live in Laguna Hills along Alicia Parkway, which includes the Via Lomas, Villa Solana and Creekside developments, would be transferred to La Paz Intermediate School.

If approved by the Board of Education, the changes would become effective sometime next year when Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate School opens.
