Texas Coach Tom Penders said starting center Albert Burditt was dismissed from the university because of bad grades, and that starting guard Terrence Rencher “will be suspended indefinitely until he demonstrates satisfactory academic progress.”
Burditt, a 6-8, 230-pound junior, was among the nation’s leaders in rebounds (14.1 per game) and blocked shots (50), while averaging 14.9 points. He will be eligible to return to Texas in the fall.
