VAN NUYS : 2 Plead No Contest in Credit Card Case
Two Reseda men admitted in a Van Nuys court Tuesday that they manufactured credit cards with altered magnetic strips to make fraudulent purchases.
Ali Mojaddam, 20, a Pierce College student, and Fadi Jubrail, 23, were part of a ring of friends who used phony cards to cheat stores, Deputy Dist. Atty. Leonard J. Shaffer said.
Mojaddam pleaded no contest to one count of forgery and three counts of using a forged card to make purchases. Jubrail pleaded no contest to one count of forgery.
Although the charges are felonies, Shaffer said prosecutors assured attorneys for the two that in exchange for the pleas, the defendants would not be sent to state prison.
Sentencing was set March 4 in Van Nuys Superior Court.
