Washington Lands Parrish; Johner Commits to Kansas
Estancia quarterback Matt Johner has committed to Kansas and plans to sign with the Jayhawks on Feb. 3.
Johner, 6-1 and 180 pounds, chose Kansas over Colorado State and San Diego State.
“Getting to play in the Big Eight was a major factor in my decision,” Johner said. “You’re playing against Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado. I think it will be a lot more fun than playing in the Western Athletic Conference.”
Johner committed to Kansas Coach Glen Mason during a home visit Monday night. He visited the Lawrence, Kan., campus over the weekend.
“Kansas fits his style of play,” said Pat Johner, the player’s father. “They do a lot of scrambling and bootlegging. He was tickled to death to get a scholarship there.”
