Arizona Rallies Against Arizona State to Remain Perfect in the Pacific 10
Arizona rallied from a 13-point deficit in the second half Wednesday night to defeat Arizona State, 91-87.
The No. 11-ranked Wildcats (10-2), who trailed, 41-34, at halftime, remained unbeaten in the Pacific 10 Conference at 5-0 and won their eighth in a row overall.
The Wildcats trailed, 57-44, with 16:12 to play but used a 16-4 run to cut the deficit to 61-60 with 12:14 remaining and tied the game at 68-68 with 8:43 left. Reggie Geary put the Wildcats ahead, 71-68, with a three-pointer 20 seconds later.
Arizona State (8-4, 2-3) got the lead again, 82-81, on Ron Riley’s two free throws with 2:30 left, but Ed Stokes gave Arizona the lead for good, 83-82, when he scored with 2:28 to play.
Stokes scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half and had 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats.
