LOS ANGELES : Garth Brooks Pledges $1 Million to Inner City
Country music star Garth Brooks said Monday that he will commit $1 million to the education of youths in South-Central Los Angeles.
Brooks will raise funds through two concerts at the Forum in Inglewood on Jan. 29. He told a news conference he will make up the difference if ticket and merchandising sales do not reach $1 million. Both shows are sold out.
The money will go to the NFL-Youth Education Town in South-Central. The educational and recreational facility will be managed by the Watts-Willowbrook Boys and Girls Club.
Two other organizations, NFL Experience and United Way, will make donations to the project.
