Share

Former President Ronald Reagan will celebrate his 82nd birthday Feb. 6 at a fund-raising black-tie social event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library near Simi Valley. Lady Margaret Thatcher, former prime minister of Great Britain, is scheduled to attend and give a brief address.

Organizers said about 500 guests are expected at the event, which will include dinner and entertainment in the library’s courtyard. Merv Griffin will be master of ceremonies.

Tickets at $500 per person are sold out, organizers said. Proceeds will support the Center for Public Affairs, a nonprofit service and scholarship organization based on the library grounds.

Guests at the birthday celebration have been invited to view the library’s current display of “The Art and Treasures of Sir Winston Churchill.” Also on exhibit is the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which was recently awarded to Reagan.

The Reagan library, which opened in November, 1991, is one of nine presidential libraries operated by the National Archives.
