FULLERTON : Residents Invited to Transit Workshop

Share

Residents are invited to help consider transportation alternatives at a workshop Monday at City Hall.

Traffic improvements, such as widening streets and intersections, will be written into the city’s General Plan--its blueprint for the future.

Associate Planner Ken Bane, who is leading the workshop, said Rolling Hills Drive is now slated for widening to four lanes. He pointed out, however, that the widening may be inappropriate for the residential neighborhood through which the road passes.

Other streets, including Commonwealth, Chapman and Euclid avenues, may need more improvements than are planned, Bane said. “We are still going to have some areas of congestion unless we have further improvements,” he said.

Bane has prepared a study showing alternatives for development, copies of which will be available. Public comment about improvements will be given to the City Council as it reviews the General Plan. The review of that document should be completed by August, Bane said.

At the workshop, Bane will explain the improvements already planned and the ones under consideration, he said.

Ride-sharing and loss of on-street parking also will be discussed, Bane said.

The meeting will be at 3 p.m. in the City Council chambers at 303 W. Commonwealth Ave.
