In an attempt to end rumors about a nightclub fight last Sunday night, Buffalo linebacker Darryl Talley stood on a news conference table and told reporters Thursday:

“Attention everyone, nothing happened.”

The incident was originally reported in the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram on Wednesday, the story saying that Talley had been punched in the nose by Magic Johnson’s unnamed bodyguard after words were exchanged at Roxbury, a West Hollywood nightspot.

On Wednesday, Johnson and his agent, Lon Rosen, said there had been shoves but no blows.

“There really was nothing there,” said Talley, who appeared unharmed. “I don’t know why everyone is talking about something like this.

“If there had been a fight, I’m sure there would have been some scratches or bruises on my face.”

Buffalo teammate Chris Hale, a close friend of Johnson, backed Talley’s story.

“I was there the whole time,” said Hale, who played at USC. “I was there as long as anyone and I’m telling you the truth: nothing really happened. Roxbury is a small place and if something did take place, everyone would have seen it.”

The last time Buffalo and Dallas met was Nov. 16, 1984. The Bills ended an 11-game losing streak with their first victory of the season by upsetting the Cowboys, 14-3. Tailback Greg Bell gained 206 yards in 27 carries and scored two touchdowns. In the series between the teams, which began in 1971, Dallas has a 3-1 edge.
