NHL ROUNDUP : Down by 3 Goals, Nordiques Tie Capitals, 3-3

Ron Hextall had 38 saves and Martin Rucinsky got the tying goal with 6:59 left in regulation as the Quebec Nordiques rallied from a three-goal deficit to tie the Washington Capitals, 3-3, Friday night at Landover, Md.

The tie enabled the Capitals to extend their home unbeaten streak to 12 games (9-0-3), tying a club record set in 1982. Quebec, meanwhile, ended a six-game losing streak at the Capital Centre dating to 1987.

Buffalo 6, N.Y. Rangers 4--Alexander Mogilny scored twice and goaltender Tom Draper settled down to win his fifth game in six starts as the Sabres beat the Rangers at Buffalo, where the Rangers are 2-11-1 in their last 14 games.

Mogilny broke a 3-3 tie with his league-leading 49th goal of the season when he slipped the puck between Mike Richter’s legs to give Buffalo a 4-3 lead 2:17 into the final period.

Chicago 4, San Jose 2--Jeremy Roenick scored his 29th goal of the season as the Blackhawks beat the Sharks at Daly City, Calif.

The Norris Division-leading Blackhawks increased their lead to eight points over Detroit.
