Mad as Hell: Round 2

Jon Salzman lambastes film critics as “cheerleaders who criticize nothing” because they did not share his own negative reactions to “Bad Lieutenant” (Mad as Hell, Jan. 17).

I saw “Bad Lieutenant,” and despite narrow-minded reviewers who chose to hype the graphic nature of the film, I found it to be artistic and well-done. Harvey Keitel’s performance was first-rate and probably his best to date. And to be able to pull off this kind of film without bloodshed is a credit to the director.

Keitel’s “Bad Lieutenant” calls people with criminal minds “little -----.” I wonder what he would call Salzman?
