City Council Plans to Meet Thursdays

Share

The City Council this week decided to change its meeting day from Tuesdays to Thursdays.

Mayor William D. Mahoney said the switch is needed because the city attorney can’t always attend the Tuesday meetings.

“It will allow the city attorney to be here on a more regular basis and it’s convenient for the council,” he said.

Mahoney said City Atty. Richard D. Jones, who also serves as Westminster’s and Whittier’s attorney, sometimes can’t make La Habra council meetings because sessions overlap.

The move “doesn’t affect the public and it’s acceptable to the council collectively and it’s better,” City Manager Lee Risner said.

The change in meeting days is expected to take effect March 18, pending another vote at the council meeting on Feb. 16.

Under the new schedule, council meetings would be held the first and third Thursdays at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 201 E. La Habra Blvd.
