Bad Mood Rising

After reading the article on the CCR imbroglio at this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, I am thoroughly convinced that John Fogerty is a raging megalomaniac. What unmitigated gall this man has!

How could he possibly live with himself after putting former bandmates Cook and Clifford through that ignominious experience in front of not only their fans, but their families? To deprive them of performing before their fans and peers, and then to treat them with such contempt for all the world to see, is to undermine the entire meaning of the spirit on which the Hall of Fame is founded: a celebration of music and appreciation of these musicians’ accomplishments.

While it is irrefutable that Fogerty’s creative writing and powerhouse vocals were an integral component to the band’s sound, his rhythm section’s contribution can in no way be downplayed. Synergy is what makes a great band, John!

Furthermore, the Hall of Fame’s culpability here cannot be understated. When board member Jann Wenner states, “It’s not our job to reconcile groups,” his blatant lack of compassion is appalling. Talk about missing the point! This attitude is what dilutes the importance of the occasion and creates a pall that hangs over the entire event.

Anyway, I want Stu and Doug to realize that there are CCR fans who very much appreciate their input and creative playing (and that of the late Tom Fogerty). We resent John’s hubris, and we stand by those guys. Rock on!
