Sign Off: KPLS (830 AM), which billed itself as La Voz (the voice) and was Southern California’s first all-talk Spanish-language radio station, has abruptly gone off the air after a year of broadcasting. The move caught KPLS’ approximately 30 employees by surprise. They said they were not told why the station was closing, but owners of the Orange-based station are expected to issue a public announcement later. The signal extended from Carlsbad to Ventura and inland as far as San Bernardino.
