DUBLIN, Ireland — Some shamrocks won’t be wilting this St. Patrick’s Day, thanks to a breakthrough by scientists.
Horticulture experts at a university in Dublin have grown 50,000 of the hardy plants.
Professor Joe Morgan hailed the new growing technique, saying it permits a sprig of shamrock “to stay standing right through St. Patrick’s Day.”
The plants are just in time for Ireland’s national day, celebrated this year on March 17.
