MacValley to Move Into New Plant, Open Station

MacValley Oil Co., an Oxnard fuel oil distributor, is about to move into a new plant where it will open a gasoline and diesel service station to augment its sales to agricultural and industrial customers.

The company expects to move into its new headquarters on Del Norte Boulevard and Sturges Road in Oxnard around Feb. 20, said Mark Matye, a principal in the business. MacValley is moving from its current location on Lockwood Street.

In anticipation of the marketing expansion, MacValley will hire four new employees, bringing its payroll to 20, Matye reported.

MacValley has about 2,000 accounts in Ventura, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties. The privately held firm does not disclose its revenues, but Matye said it hopes to increase its income substantially through the sale of unbranded fuel to fleet vehicles and long-haul trucks.

Private vehicles also will be welcome at the station, about a mile south of the Ventura Freeway, he added.

Matye did not disclose the value of the new headquarters building except to say it cost “well over $1 million.” He said the structure is about 20,000 square feet and stands on a three-acre site.

MacValley was formed in the late 1980s as a result of a merger between Valley Fuel Supply Co. and McCaslin Oil Co., both of Oxnard.
