NHL ROUNDUP : Mogilny Has Four Goals for Sabres

Alexander Mogilny and linemate Pat LaFontaine complimented each other beautifully Wednesday night, accounting for 11 points while leading the Buffalo Sabres past the Winnipeg Jets, 6-2, at Winnipeg.

Mogilny had four goals and one assist, and LaFontaine had a goal and five assists. For Mogilny, the NHL leader with 54 goals, it was his sixth hat trick of the season.

Alexei Zhamnov gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead 1:19 into the game. Then Mogilny scored three consecutive goals to put the Sabres ahead, 3-1, at 5:23 of the second period.

Grant Fuhr was sharp in goal for Buffalo, making 34 saves, including several from close range. Fuhr is 2-1-0 since being traded to the Sabres by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Feb. 2.

The Sabres also got a goal from Doug Bodger. Darrin Shannon scored the other goal for the Jets.

Calgary 13, San Jose 1--The Sharks scored first, but then the Flames opened fire, getting three goals apiece from Robert Reichel and Ronnie Stern during the rout at Calgary.

Pittsburgh 3, N.Y. Rangers 0--Tom Barrasso turned in a shutout in his first start since Jan. 9 and the Penguins won at New York.

Barrasso, who had missed nine games because of chickenpox, played in relief of Ken Wregget in Monday night’s 4-0 shutout of the Boston Bruins and was solid from start to finish against the Rangers.

Barrasso made 30 saves in recording his fourth shutout this season and 19th of his career.
