Phil Sanson, The Master’s College forward who suffered a fractured larynx in a game Jan. 9, will undergo surgery today at UC San Francisco Medical Center.
Sanson, who cannot speak and is breathing with the help of a tracheotomy tube, suffered the injury when he fell into the bleachers while trying to save a loose ball from going out of bounds.
Sanson’s surgeon, Dr. Herbert Dedo, is expected to insert an endoscopic Teflon keel which is designed to divide the scar tissue that is sealing Sanson’s vocal cords.
