The Kings, Gretzky and the All-Star Game

Share

For the past 20 years, I’ve watched the Kings serve as a punching bag for opponents throughout the NHL. Listless hockey with no effort was the norm. Finally, the Kings hire a coach who preaches aggressive, defensive-minded hockey. But wait! What’s wrong with Wayne? Seems the poor guy is upset with the Kings’ style of play. He promptly complains to Papa Bruce and proceeds to make his anguish a major media event at the All-Star game.

If Wayne Gretzky wants to know the real problem, he should look in a mirror. His selfish, crybaby antics that were once amusing are now intolerable. He should take his “no-check” philosophy and try out for the Ice Capades.

The classiest act of the ‘80s has turned into the crybaby of the ‘90s.
