AFRICAN VALENTINE: Valentine’s Day today means big business in Orange County (D1), but Huntington Beach marketing director Kathi Winter is using it to emphasize love more than dollars. . . . Through her Global Incentives Inc., she’s put together a Valentine’s shipment for Soweto Township in South Africa, where apartheid has created deep pockets of poverty. For Christmas, she sent 400 tons of books. Now her company is collecting tons of books and toys. “Soweto’s need is so great, and we are so affluent,” she says.
