There are some misfires but also some funny stuff and a refreshing taste of self-mockery in I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (KTTV Monday at 8 p.m.), Keenen Ivory Wayans’ 1988 satire of the early ‘70s black exploitation action pictures with their natty, super-masculine heroes, flamboyant pimps and drug czars.

Sometimes the elements in a comedy magically fuse, and everything works. That’s the case with Ron Howard’s 1984 hit romantic comedy Splash (KTLA Wednesday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m.), in which Tom Hanks falls in love with mermaid Daryl Hannah.

In the 1987 Dragnet (KTLA Thursday at 8 p.m.), a spoof of the old radio and TV series, Dan Aykroyd is fine as Joe Friday’s officious, super-square nephew as is Tom Hanks as his swift-witted foil, but the film goes over the top with a plot involving virgin sacrifices and pagan ritual.

Slick and scarcely subtle but undeniably potent, Steven Spielberg’s 1975 Jaws (KCOP Thursday at 8 p.m.) builds single-mindedly to its big, scary climax involving that awesome shark. Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss star.

Far, far past Apocalypse, in the twilight of the West is director George Miller’s setting for the 1985 Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (KCOP Friday at 8 p.m.). Mel Gibson is back for the third time as Mad Max, by now a weary warrior but one whose reflexes for heroism are still sharp. This time the villain is Aunty Entity, played by Tina Turner, no less.

The Outlaw Josey Wales (KCOP Saturday at 8 p.m.), to which the current “Unforgiven” is a companion piece, remains one of Clint Eastwood’s best, both as star and director. In this 1976 Western, Eastwood plays a farmer turned avenging outlaw when his family is massacred by a band of Northern guerrillas during the Civil War.

Nigel Noble’s 1988 Voices of Sarafina! (KCET Saturday at 11:30 p.m.) is a touching backstage and onstage documentary illustrating the thoughts and experiences of the formidable young performers in the musical dramatizing the student uprising in Soweto in 1976.
