SANTA CLARITA VALLEY : $50,000 OKd to Aid Disturbed Children
At the urging of Supervisor Mike Antonovich, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to spend $50,000 to help a Santa Clarita Valley community center run a counseling program for emotionally disturbed children.
The federal block grant money will come out of Antonovich’s discretionary budget for that program because he represents the area in which the Santa Clarita Valley Services Center is located. The funds will be made available to the center through the county’s Community and Senior Citizens Services Department.
The program provides counseling, support and other services for emotionally disturbed children, many of them severely disturbed.
