LOS ANGELES : Candidate’s Spouse Quits Airport Board
The president of the city’s Board of Airport Commissioners, Robert A. Chick, announced Wednesday that he is resigning to prevent any appearance of conflict of interest during his wife’s bid for a City Council seat representing the southwestern San Fernando Valley.
Chick, who has served on the commission for nine years, said in a letter to Mayor Tom Bradley that the resignation was necessary to maintain “the highest standard of ethical behavior.” His wife, Laura Chick, is one of five candidates seeking to unseat 3rd District Councilwoman Joy Picus in April.
