Police arrested six teen-agers suspected of auto theft early Thursday after they led authorities on a chase that ended when the car in which the juveniles were riding skidded out of control and flipped over.

The 14-year-old driver of the car was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach after the pre-dawn accident, police said. He was treated for bruises and released to the custody of his parents, police said.

The five other youths in the car, all aged 14 or 15, were also released to their parents, Sgt. Norm Satterfield said.

The chase began just before 1 a.m. in Fountain Valley near Brookhurst Street and Ellis Avenue when police spotted a 1990 Toyota that had been reported stolen a short time earlier.

The driver led police north onto the Garden Grove Freeway, and began speeding into Los Angeles County, police said.

The pursuit ended on the 7th Street off-ramp of the San Diego Freeway after the driver lost control of the car, police said.
