Condemning Gays Is Not Christian
Evangelical pastor Mark Wiley, who condemns homosexuals as “vile,” indeed lives up to the charge he wishes to avoid: “narrow-mindedness.” Wonderfully, Jesus was not.
There is just barely enough material in the Bible to justify an existing prejudice against people who are (not by choice, it would seem) gay or lesbian, as there is also biblical evidence for polygamy, subservience of women, vegetarianism, a flat Earth, and evidence against these as well.
The vast testimony of Scripture is that God is leading the Body of Christ to the same attitude that Jesus demonstrated: non-condemnation and inclusion of those once thought outcast.
The only people Jesus condemned were the condemners. The only choice of homosexuals is whether or not to be open.
The only choice of we heterosexual Christian believers is whether or not to be open, loving and accepting like the Lord Jesus.
