Nation IN BRIEF : ILLINOIS : 35 Hurt in Crash of Commuter Trains

One Chicago Transit Authority train rear-ended another as the trains were running along a new route. Thirty-five people were hurt, one seriously. CTA officials were inaugurating a $187-million realignment of train routes to connect two of the system’s most heavily used lines when the accident occurred in a 4,400-foot tunnel in the Chinatown area.
