SANTA CLARITA : Local Perot Group to Hold Meeting

Share

Hoping to harness the support won by businessman-presidential candidate Ross Perot, the Santa Clarita chapter of United We Stand America on Friday will hold its first meeting since the November election. The meeting will be held in the community room of the Valencia Town Center at 6:30 p.m.

The local organizational meeting, which also will include a presentation on the proposed Elsmere Canyon landfill, is part of the national political watchdog group backed by the Texas billionaire.

The Santa Clarita chapter will become one of three in the 25th Congressional District. About a quarter of the district’s voters cast ballots for Perot in November, the highest proportion of county’s 17 congressional districts, United We Stand organizers said.

“In Santa Clarita, we seem to have a more open, adventuresome spirit,” said coordinator Gordon Swanson. “We have an opinion on things.”
