Pacific Symphony Brings Back Chamber Music With Spring Concerts

Share

After a four-year hiatus from presenting chamber music, the Pacific Symphony will offer a modest two-concert program at Bowers Museum of Cultural Art.

The March 25 and May 27 programs, featuring principal players from the orchestra, are sponsored by the orchestra and the museum, with some additional underwriting from the Anaheim-based Leo Freedman Foundation.

On March 25, the program is Brahms’ Trio in E-flat for violin, horn and piano, Debussy’s Sonata for flute, viola and harp, Toru Takemitsu’s “Raintree,” for three percussionists, and Brahms’ Clarinet Trio in A minor.

The May 27 offerings are Mozart’s Sonata in B-flat for bassoon and cello, Johann Joachim Quantz’s Trio Sonata in C minor for flute, oboe and harpsichord and Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 1. Concerts will begin at 8:30 p.m.

For several years the Pacific had offered periodic chamber programs at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa.

Tickets are $5 per concert, in addition to museum admission of $4.50. Information: (714) 567-3635.
