Student Dismissed for Writing an Ethnic Slur

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. —
A black student admitted scrawling an ethnic slur on his dormitory door and blaming it on drunken vandals, school officials said.
Lewis Williams III, 19, was dismissed from Slippery Rock University after admitting his guilt. He was charged with criminal mischief and ethnic intimidation and faces a court hearing on March 22, campus police said.
School officials said they could not reveal why Williams wrote the slurs because of a federal law protecting student confidentiality.
