Bradshaw’s 35 Lead Titan Women Past UCI
Shayla Bradshaw had a career-high 35 points to help Cal State Fullerton to a 96-91 victory over UC Irvine in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Monday at Irvine.
Bradshaw, a freshman, was 12 of 18 from the field, including six of six on three-point shots. She set a Bren Center record for points in a half by a women with 27 in the second half.
She broke the mark of 22 set by Irvine’s Jinelle Williams in the first half of the same game. Williams finished with a career-high 31 for Irvine (2-23, 1-16).
Allison Jackson, Cal State Fullerton’s other starting guard, scored 29 points. Jackson, a senior, was nine of 20 from the field and made nine of 11 free throws.
Irvine opened a 44-38 lead at the half but Fullerton switched to a full-court press in the second half to change the flow. Fullerton pulled in front with about 10 minutes left and remained between five and 10 points ahead the rest of the game.
Irvine’s Karie Yoshioka made a three-pointer with 30 seconds left to get Irvine within three, 92-89, but Fullerton (7-17, 4-12) was able to hang on.
