Bill Maas, lured by a promise to let him play nose tackle rather than defensive end, left the Kansas City Chiefs and signed with the Green Bay Packers.

Maas was the third major free agent to change teams in the NFL’s first season of ulimited free agency, joining offensive tackles Don Maggs and Gerald Perry. Perry went from the Rams to the Raiders and Maggs from Houston to Denver.

A fourth free agent, defensive lineman John Washington, moved from Atlanta to New England, where he will play for Bill Parcells, who coached him for six years with the New York Giants.
