Baldwin Park : Graffiti Project Sought

The city may get some help with its persistent graffiti problem if a grant application approved Wednesday wins funding from the California Integrated Waste Management Board.

The City Council voted to apply to the board for a two-week graffiti removal project beginning May 3.

Under the program, the waste management board would supply recycled paint and members of the California Conservation Corps to paint over graffiti in places that are difficult for the city’s paint truck to reach.

The city would supply paintbrushes and rollers and assign work to the CCC crew. The purpose of the grant is to demonstrate innovative waste reduction techniques, such as using recycled paint, said Ralph J. Nunez, the city’s director of human services.
