When they lost by 56 points earlier in the season, the Philadelphia 76ers figured it couldn’t get any worse.

Well, it isn’t getting any better, either.

The 76ers suffered their second 56-point loss of the season Saturday night, losing, 149-93, to the SuperSonics at Seattle.

Two months ago, the 76ers lost to the Sacramento Kings, 154-98.

Eddie Johnson scored nine of his 21 points in a 31-2 first-half run to lead the rout that resulted in Seattle’s 10th consecutive victory.

The SuperSonics matched their largest margin of victory in team history.

Houston 119, Sacramento 102--The Rockets also won their 10th in a row, at Houston, to move into first place in the Midwest Division.

The Rockets, winners of 23 of their last 28, were led by Hakeem Olajuwon’s 27 points and 15 rebounds. Olajuwon’s career point total surpassed 15,000 in the first half.

Lionel Simmons had 20 points and Wayman Tisdale 14 for the Kings, who have lost 10 of their last 11.

Minnesota 106, San Antonio 105--Christian Laettner’s three-point play with 1.4 seconds to play dealt the Spurs a loss at Minnesota that knocked them out of first place in the Midwest Division.

With San Antonio leading, 105-103, Dale Ellis fouled Laettner as the Timberwolves’ forward went up for an off-balance jump shot from the free-throw line. Laettner made the jumper and the ensuing free throw.

San Antonio has lost seven of its last 10.

Chuck Person scored a season-high 33 points, and Laettner finished with 25 as Minnesota survived despite blowing a 17-point, third-quarter lead.

J.R. Reid scored 13 of his career-high 29 points in the fourth quarter.

Atlanta 139, Utah 118--Mookie Blaylock set a franchise assist record with 23 at Atlanta.

Blaylock surpassed his career-high by six and broke the team record of 21 set by Doc Rivers against the 76ers in 1986. Blaylock also scored 11 points.

Kevin Willis, one of seven Hawks in double figures, scored 28 points and Dominique Wilkins 26 as Atlanta snapped a four-game losing streak.

Karl Malone scored 19 points and John Stockton 17 for the Jazz, losers of seven of its last eight games.

New Jersey 117, Denver 90--Rumeal Robinson is getting a chance to show what he can do with the Nets’ regular point guard, Kenny Anderson, sidelined because of a broken wrist.

Robinson scored 15 points and had five of his 11 assists in the first quarter at East Rutherford, N.J., leading the Nets to an 18-point advantage. The Nuggets never recovered.

Drazen Petrovic led the Nets with 25 points and Derrick Coleman added 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Dikembe Mutombo had 19 rebounds for Denver.

Phoenix 109, Dallas 102--Kevin Johnson has been forced to sit and watch for much of the season while Charles Barkley has carried the load for the Suns. But, the Phoenix point guard reciprocated at Dallas.

Barkley missed the final 7:27 of the game after being ejected because of a flagrant foul, but Johnson scored a season-high 28 points to assure his team of victory.

The Mavericks have lost 14 in a row.

Derek Harper had 27 points and Jim Jackson, playing his second game since being signed on Thursday, finished with 19 for Dallas.
