Fire Causes $125,000 in Damage to Corona del Mar High Lounge
A fire caused $125,000 worth of damage to the teachers’ lounge at Corona del Mar High School late Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Smoke and fire were visible as firefighters approached the school at 2101 Eastbluff Drive at about 5:30 p.m., a Newport Beach Fire Department spokesman said. The flames were coming from the teachers’ lounge next to the school cafeteria.
A second alarm was sounded and ultimately four engine companies, four truck companies and two paramedic units converged at the school.
There were no injuries, and the fire was brought under control by 5:55 p.m. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
