NBA ROUNDUP : Miner Helps Heat Defeat Pacers

The Miami Heat is hot, and so is rookie Harold Miner.

The Heat defeated the Indiana Pacers, 114-99, Sunday at Miami to extend a club-record winning streak to six games, with Miner scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter, including six during a key rally.

The Heat also set a franchise record with its eighth consecutive home victory.

Miner, who made five of six field-goal attempts and seven of eight free throws, finished with 17 points.

“It felt good to be out there down the stretch,” he said. “Everyone was involved. We’re confident down the stretch.”

Rony Seikaly had 20 points for Miami, despite sitting out the entire fourth quarter.

Portland 113, Golden State 96--Rod Strickland had 18 points and 14 assists and the Trail Blazers held the Warriors to a season-low 36 first-half points at Oakland.

Portland broke a two-game losing streak and won for only the third time in eight games. The Warriors suffered their fourth loss in five games.

Portland, 4-0 against the Warriors this season, completed a road sweep in Oakland for the first time.

Victor Alexander had a season-high 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Warriors, who played the game without injured All-Star guard Tim Hardaway, who has a bruised knee.

Billy Owens played 14 minutes for Golden State, getting nine points and four rebounds. Owens had missed 40 of the previous 41 games because of a knee injury.

The Warriors’ Jeff Grayer left the game with a bruised left thigh in the second quarter.

Detroit 98, Milwaukee 91--The Pistons played the first half at Milwaukee looking very much like a team that hadn’t won a road game in more than two months, but the rallied from 11 points behind to end a 12-game road losing streak.

Detroit got 25 rebounds from Dennis Rodman, 20 points from Olden Polynice and nine points, 10 rebounds and five steals from former Buck Alvin Robertson.

Boston 96, Cleveland 88--Before the game at Boston, Reggie Lewis was treated for the lower back strain that had sidelined him for two games.

He needed some time to get back into the flow, but finished with 17 points.
