Organizers of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race say a second dog has died and a race marshal planned to head to the remote Rohn checkpoint today to oversee an investigation.
Jeff King led Rick Swenson, a five-time winner, by 12 minutes at the McGrath checkpoint, about 385 miles into the 1,100-mile race from Anchorage to Nome.
