Wilkins’ 35 Lead Hawks Over Lakers

Dominique Wilkins scored 35 points and the Atlanta Hawks extended their winning streak to a season-high five games with a 117-107 victory over the Lakers Sunday.

Kevin Willis added 19 points and 14 rebounds for the hawks, who also have won four straight at home.

James Worthy topped the Lakers with 25 points and A.C. Green had 21 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lakers dropped to 2-2 on its five-game trip.

Willis’ layup with 1:04 left in the first quarter capped a 12-2 spurt that put Atlanta ahead to stay, 33-23.

Worthy’s three-pointer with one-tenth of a second left in the third quarter drew the Lakers within 90-87, but the Hawks opened the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run to take control.

Wilkins, who has scored at least 35 points in four straight games, was two for six from three-point range and broke Doc Rivers’ team record for three-pointers in a season (263).

The Lakers play at San Antonio tonight.
