John Ralston, recently inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame after coaching at Stanford and Utah State, will be named coach at San Jose State today, according to sources close to the athletic department.

Ralston, 65, will replace Ron Turner, who left the Spartans to become offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears. San Jose State was 7-4 in Turner’s one season.

Ralston was coach at Utah State from 1959-62 and at Stanford from 1963-71, with Rose Bowl victories in 1971 and ’72.
