SHERMAN OAKS : Fire Causes $60,000 in Damage to Store

A fire swept through a store in a Sherman Oaks mini-mall, causing about $60,000 in damage Tuesday, but no one was injured, authorities said.

It began about 5 p.m. on the first floor of Bekins Box & Shipping at 14322 W. Ventura Blvd., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said.

One employee was in the store, but escaped unharmed, Wells said. The fire was put out in about 20 minutes.

No other stores were affected by the fire, Wells said. The cause of the blaze was being investigated.
