Countywide : Schools Seek Speech Tournament Judges
A school speech league is seeking toastmasters and other adults experienced in public speaking to help judge a speech tournament for sixth- through eighth-grade students Saturday at Monte Vista Intermediate School in Camarillo.
Sponsored by the Camino Real Speech League, the tournament will last from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include contests on eight types of speeches, from impromptu to persuasive.
Thirteen middle- and junior-high schools from Ventura and Los Angeles counties are competing, said Pat Craig, a Monte Vista speech teacher who is organizing the tournament.
Judges will not be paid, although they will receive free breakfast and lunch, she said.
For information, call Craig at 482-8891.
