Poor Shooting Proves Costly as The Master’s Falls, 81-77

The Master’s College sank only two of 14 three-point attempts and shot 39% from the field in falling to Oakland (Ind.) City College, 81-77, in the third-place game of the National Christian College Athletic Assn. basketball tournament in Marion, Ind.

The Master’s (20-12), which led, 41-37, at halftime and was up by as many as seven points in the second half, fell behind for good when Robert Edwards’ three-point basket gave Oakland (22-10) a 75-74 lead.

Center Emeka Okenwa led The Master’s with 23 points and 21 rebounds, and sophomore guard Doug Leaman came off the bench to add a personal-best 20 points for the Mustangs. Sophomore reserve James Mosley added 13 points for The Master’s, which committed 22 turnovers.

Yuri Leath (16 points) led four Oakland scorers into doubles figures.
