Pop Album Chart : Coverdale/Page Rocks Into the Top 5

Coverdale/Page--a union of David Coverdale, formerly of Whitesnake, and ex-Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page--was made to order for the classic rock crowd, as shown by the Zeppelinesque material on their first album, “Coverdale/Page.” No wonder it debuted at No. 5 on the pop album chart. The question is whether there’s a market for it beyond classic-rock types and hard-core fans of the musicians. “The Bodyguard” soundtrack returned to the top of the pop album chart, thanks to the strength of Whitney Houston’s two Top 10 pop singles--”I Have Nothing” (No. 4) and “I’m Every Woman” (No. 6). Dancehall star Snow inched into the Top 10 with his debut album, “12 Inches of Snow,” featuring the infectious “Informer” single, which still leads the pop chart.

* Is Tracy Lawrence this year’s new country star? It may be a little early to tell, but so far so good. His new album entered at No. 39 last week and then jumped to No. 26.
