COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Orange Coast Uses Wild Pitch to Beat Riverside in 10 Innings

Greg Folsom scored on a wild pitch in the 10th inning to give Orange Coast a 6-5 victory over Riverside in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Thursday at Riverside.

With one out, Folsom doubled, went to third on a fly out and scored the wild pitch by Jason Whittle.

Folsom had three hits and drove in two runs. OCC (13-8, 5-3) led, 5-0, after six innings, but Riverside (17-7, 6-5) scored three times in the eighth and twice in the ninth. Riverside left 11 on base, including eight in scoring position. Orange Coast plays host to Riverside Saturday at noon.

In other Orange Empire Conference games:

Cypress 11, Saddleback 5--Eric Stevens and Greg Tippen each drove in three runs for host Cypress (16-9, 6-5), which broke a two-game losing streak. Stevens also scored three runs. Aaron France (2-1) pitched eight innings, allowing five hits and three runs, all unearned, for the victory.

Bo Haley had three hits for Saddleback (13-8, 4-7). The teams play again Saturday at Saddleback at noon.

Golden West 3, Rancho Santiago 3 (13 innings, darkness)--Brand Caso hit a home run in the fifth and a sacrifice fly in the 12th for Golden West. Matt Kastellic drove in the tying run in the bottom of the 12th with a double.
